Saturn never gets old

Took the boys out tonight to use the 6″ f8 telescope. It’s an old cardboard Dobsonian and it’s still great. The waxing gibbous moon was neat and right above it was old Saturn. It looks amazing no matter how many times you see it. Two moons were visible; one obvious and one by averted vision. The boys loved it. I told them to look at it real hard and we would draw pictures of it. You always look more intently when you know you have to reproduce it. It’s hard to imagine, let alone explain just how far away that is. Easily my favorite planet. For years, it was a cold weather object, but now we have a good decade of it being warm weather.
