Renouncing the Mets (Yes, I’m SERIOUS!!!)

To those of you asking me if I am excited about the Mets’ Santana deal, the answer is “NO!”. I have renounced the Mets. Why won’t anyone believe me? They spent 120 million (and spent it badly), tops in the NL last year, and they couldn’t beat out the Phillies. They are part of the problem in MLB where big market clubs just outspend everyone else no one seems to care.

More and more, over the last 20 years, they have become something totally different than the lovable losers/occassional overachievers, that I grew up with. I’m through with them. For those of you who STILL don’t get it, here are some reasons, in no particular order.
(1) $29 to park at the new Shea Stadium: in the parking lot of the old Shea, near the chop shops, at the end of the runway next to the smelly bay.
(2) The ear-splitting noise that comes out of the speakers at Mets games that makes it impossible for me to converse with the guy NEXT to me.
(3) Being like the fifteenth team to go to the gang-inspired, all-black bowling shirts. They don’t even LOOK like the team I grew up with. Can you see Koosman wearing that *(%$@ ?
(4) The 120 million dollar payroll, most in the NL, and can’t win the half-flag over Philly and their whiffle ball pitching

(5) So many Spanish promotions at Shea that you think you’re in the Carribean
(6) The Wilpon boys
(7) Omar (I’m talking to Boras, so I miss Lidge and let the Phils get him) Minaya

(8) Skill Sets Phillips was the GM
(9) Jose Reyes not running out balls….at ALL on occassion

(10) One more expensive year of Delgado continually being unable to turn on the middle-in, mid-thighs fastball that everyone, including my wife, knows is coming.
(11) Pretty much anything on the network that isn’t: Kevin, Keith, Ron and Gary. The sound; the production values; Mazzilli
(12) Milledge for who?  Wasn’t Willie supposed to be able to develop this man?  If he can’t get that done and he presides over a collapse, why are we treating him like he’s Leo Durocher?

(13) Kazmir for who? Didn’t tightpants say he could “fix” Zambrano in “ten minutes”?
(14) You have this tremendous collapse and everyone comes back to do it again as if nothing happened.

I don’t want to politics but I am really bummed today.  It looks like I’ll have the choice of Hillary (Stalin in a pantsuit) vs that a**h*** John McCain.  The primary system is broken, RNC.  You hear that?  When a bunch of Democrats disguised as “independents” can cross over and vote for this pr*** in my party’s primary and saddle me with this dou**b** and they’re telling me the thing is over and the choice if virtually made after 4 or 5 raggety ass states have voted, then it the system stinks.  I may very well stay home on election because I can’t bring myself to vote for either of these two pieces of trash.

Let me recap that: The choices for President will be (1) Democrat and (2) Democrat.

Tax and spend and never get it back.  Hip, hip hooray.  C’mon people and pull those Romney levers out there so we have somewhat of a CHOICE!  It’s supposed to be a choice, innit?
